Modern Traditional Arabic "The Family of the Prophet Mohamed In Arabic"
Chapter 2
The second dialogue
الحوار الثانى
From This dialogue, we'll learn more about the family of the prophet Mohamed "peace be upon him" عليه الصلاة والسلام
The word هل as we said before is the question word of "yes/no question" it is equal to the whole helping verbs "is, are, was, were, can, etc."
The word شجرة means "tree" , the question هل هذه شجرة؟ means "Is this a tree?"
The word نعم means "yes" and it is the reply of the question word هل . we can reply also with لا which means "no"
The word أسرة means "family" and the word الرسول means "the messenger" who is the prophet Mohamed, so أسرة الرسول is translated as "the family of the messenger"
The word والده means "his father", we said the previous chapter, that the letter ه is added to the noun to make the possessive pronoun "his", so the word والده means "his father". عبد الله is the name of the prophet's father, and the name of his grandfather is عبد المطلب so the name of prophet Mohamed عليه الصلاة والسلام is محمد بن عبد الله بن عبد المطلب
The word أبن is "a son" and it is used in the traditional Arabic names.
Instead of using the word والده his father, we can use the word أبوه we can say "هذا أبوه عبد الله"
The prophet's mother name is آمنة , so we have والدته which means "his mother" and again instead of saying والدته we can say أمه to indicate to his mother.
The sentence وهذا عمه العباس means "and this is his uncle Al-Abbaas" the word عم means uncle "his father's brother" and of course we have the possessive pronoun or let's say the possessive letter ه which means "his", so the word عمه means "his uncle"
There are many uncles of the prophet Mohamed, may be ten to eleven, among them who are mentioned in the dialogue العباس، حمزة، أبو طالب
The sentence وهذه عمته صفية means "and this is his aunt Safeya" and she is his brother's sister.
The word عم is uncle, only from father side, so the father's brother is called in Arabic عم
The word عمه is auntie, only from the father side, so the father's sister is called in Arabic عمة
The word ابن means "son" and ابنه "his son", his name is القاسم and it is the first of the prophet's children.
Besides القاسم there are also عبد الله and إبراهيم
The word أبنه is "a daughter" and as we can see, it has a feminine taa ة , so, the word أبن means "a son" and the word أبنه with the feminine taa means "a daughter" and there are four daughters of the prophet Mohamed; they are فاطمة، رقية، زينب، أم كلثوم
So, the prophet Mohamed has three sons and four daughters, but all of his sons died when they are very young.
